Sorry, this the news item is in Indonesian. No time to give a translation; but the main point is that Islamic groups refuse someone because "he's not a Muslim and a majority is"... and this is Sumatra, not some backward country like Iran.

Violating Indonesia's state ideology of Pancasila with their feet they are not even in fear of getting arrested... probably also because "a majority of the police is Muslim"...

A small example about how certain Islamic movements - clearly influenced by foreign radical elements - are slowly breaking down the democratic republic of Indonesia to change it into an Islamic country.

A shame to those who violate the Pancasila and in fact disobey the Indonesian Constitution. I hope they will stay away from areas in Indonesia that do NOT have an Islamic majority, because - according to them - they don't need to be there.

Yes, very tired...

But it remains an issue that these small groups can cause a serious threat to the democracy of Indonesia. Emoticon: Frustrated

Not only to the threat of democracy in Indonesia but worse of all, is the threat to the unity of Indonesia.

Is the unity of Indonesia something to cherish? I guess there are other possibilities to have countries within south-east Asia that would make more sense than the current situation.

Unfortunately will changing the current status quo to a new situation almost certainly result in at least temporary violence which is of course something not to go for?

As you probably know is area that we call Indonesia the result of 350 years of Dutch imperialism. It is not based on a mutual feeling of the population that they belong together.
