I wish to travel from Pekan Baru to Padang via air. Are there any direct flights? What are the alternatives?

As far as I know there are no commercial flights between these 2 cities. I travelled 5 years ago by bus from Padang to P.Baru which was a gruelling 14 hour experience in a bus full of goats, chicken and jilbabs. The effective time for travelling is approx 6-8, the rest of the hours we lost at several "terminal bus" along the way with the usual terrorising squads of "nasi nasi nasi" and "ayo kacang kacang" sellers. Not recommended.
