Indonesia tries to ban web porn
The Indonesian government has passed a law banning the viewing or production of "immoral content" on the internet. The new law is one of the most strict in the world and will come into force on 29 March. Anyone found guilty of breaking the law faces six years in prison and a fine equivalent to $109,000.

Making a nationwide filter is already almost impossible, but making a law without any direct filters will lead to nothing. And who will download free software from the Indonesian government after this law is passed? I won't for sure, and the main reason is not even that I need to watch porn every day or something.

The stupidity without borders? Emoticon: Laugh out loud

Thanks to the moslim political parties and the majority of our moslim fellow-citizens. This will be a law that will be prey for abuse by conservatives and fundamentalists to use it in their own advantage. The dark ages are coming back again. It's a surrender to the pressure of the religious conservatives.
These things are worrying me much more then the reaction on the coming Wilders film. These backward thoughts are already active and (ab)used by Al Kacong-members (the FPI look alikes) to slander and drive women back into the kitchen and behind veils. Unfortunately this is already reality and will only become worse with this ancient type of laws. Very dangerous for the citizens but also for democracy and the future and progress of this country: counteractive!

That will not say that I like porno but this law will be definitely (ab)used by certain groups for almost everything.

For ur information: Al Kacong is the local nickname for these sandal bearing moslims with a goat shaped beard and a trouser which is 10 centimeters to short.

Te website of the Ministry of Information has been hacked... which was to be expected as long as they keep on hiring people which are only friends and relatives and not the skilled programmers from 'outside' their extended family.

They have to do something to satisfy the fundamentalists. Regulating the internet is more or less impossible, but the people who make laws donít understand that.

The result of this law will be that real criminals that commit sex oriented crimes on internet will just continue to do what they and will not be caught, while a few naÔve people with that make a little mistake, which is in our eyes rather innocent, will suffer the serious consequences of this draconic law.
