Well...just to mention some things:
- the stupid busway system which makes Jakarta even more crowded
- CGK: nothing really changed, it just became more crowded and chaotic...well the customs area got some extremely necessary update, the taxi maffia outside just became worse, you have to pay some surcharge now
- trains to Bandung from Gambir are almost empty now because of the new Jalan Tol to Bandung, they even lowered the railway fare (something what probably never happened in Indonesian history before)
- More and more malls...I guess they have about 200 now
- Prestasi Taksi is gone

Gracias. Sama sama

I have seen that list as well, it should be an official police bulletin, but doy you see the language that is used here? No way this was issued by the police! At least someone edited it, so I doubt if all should be on the list. Maybe I'll seeif I can check it... I don't really care since it's too far away Emoticon: Wink

Taxi Prestasi is the "new name "of Taxi President.
More than 10 years ago they had already a bad name in Jakarta.

The article is meant (only) for Orang Jakarta . Emoticon: Smile

And Jakarta is in the meanwhile number 1 as the most polluted city in the world. Another championship for RI.
And propably Soekarno-Hatta is the most "kampungan" airport in the world. Even the busterminal in Yogyakarta is better organized and cleaner.

I don't know if you really have to go to Jakarta (maybe kampung halaman isteri?!) but otherwise good advise to leave the capital a.s.a.p. You don't miss a thing and will have a lot of pleasure and joy then in this "Big Durian".

To me.. Jakarta has changed a lot in the 6 years I am coming there. Much more construction work going on.. much more traffic jams of course, more new SUV's on the street but also more beggars. Pollution wise.. I thought it cuold not get worse but...

In my opinion Sukarno-Hatta is a reasonably good airport for a developing country.

"Reasonably good for a developing country"?

I'll take S-H over Heathrow, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Sydney any day. The only airport I prefer over S-H so far is Changi.

Back to the discussion: nothing's really changed - just more of everything.

Well well, even one of the ministers said on television 2 days ago that the situation on airport Soekarno-Hatta is far below convenient, far below acceptable standards and is really disappointing on all fronts. Almost all the other airports in Indonesia are much more convenient then the (inter)national one in Jakarta. And these are also airports in the same developing country.
So Katinka, how do you explain that it is possible in a developing country to have reasonable airports except for the capital??? That has nothing to do with a developing country but a lack of good will and corruption on all levels.

A more reasonable airport than Soekarno-Hatta? Please name it.
I know the following Indonesian airports: Medan, Banda Aceh, Palembang and Denpasar. I cannot say that they are more reasonable than my all-time favourite Cengkareng. Emoticon: Smile

Indeed, corruption is the biggest problem in Indonesia.
But the governor of Jakarta seems to be a total failure as well.
There will never be a second Bang Ali again.
