We are a couple who taking a language course in Jogjakarta, we are looking for a house that we can rent for one or two years. We prefer around Gejayan St. or UGM complex.

What kind of house are you looking for? Big, small, airco or not, how many rooms, access to main road directly, in neighborhood.. ect.ect.

I happen to live in that area by the way.

Thank you very much for your reply, Yerun. We would like a medium sized house with AC in at least two rooms including bedroom, kitchen, western toilet and shower and also telephone connection. Preferably no more than 500 metres from a main road. A garden (small one is OK), would be a great bonus.

We are ready to look for properties around the 10th of June. We would appreciate any help from you.

Western toilet is something exotic here, so if you really need that, you should have a close look around here. Of course if you want to rent for two years, it may also be an option just to change it yourself. Not that expensive.

Apartemen Sejahtera, one road 'behind' Jl. Gejayan (which has officially been renamed to Jl. Affandi for the biggest part last year) is somewhat higher standards, maybe you can take a look there.

500 meters from a main road is much here, I think there is no house in the city itself that is further away than that, so don't worry about that.

Thank you for the information, we have been to the Apartment Sejahtera and also have some friends who stayed there before. We don't really like it especially after the earthquake last year. We dont really trust the constructions of the building itself due to the damaged of the earthquake. So preferably a house ( would be nice if old house made on the dutch time) because they still have some left in Jogjakarta. Based on our knowledge only these type of house that still stand strongly when the earthquake hit jogja last time.

About western toilet I think that's not such of big problem we always can replace it.

Regards
