After reading about "gay Life in Indonesia" in this forum, I was drawn into one particular context (HIV-Virus-AIDS) which is very frightening if this particular desease allowed/unchecked to spread in Indonesia.
It is not being prejudice towards any section of the society, but the reality in life is that "The seeds have already been sown"...........The seeds has grown into the trees that bears another fruit which of course: HIV-AIDS Antybody......
Unfortunately- indeed, the free spirited, innocent , beautiful, trusting and sometimes naive birds flying in the sky unwittingly eats the seeds from that tree!.........and fly to another field to have a chat, and drop the seeds....
The result?....
Now that we know in Indonesia is still need more education regarding this very serious problem. Should we just close our eyes and pretend not hearing anything?

What do you think?

Education by TV, how people can get aids.
Leaflets all over the country about aids at shopping malls.
Education at school about it. Start with the young people, how they should be carefull when having sex (save sex).

But I think this will not be done for a very long time.
Because talking about sex on TV and at school in Indonesia?

Dear Bagusdewe,
Thank you for your topic suggestion. AIDS... thatís a huge problem in Indonesia. Especially because in the countryside (thatís everywhere, the great Javanese towns excepted!) , just prevention already encounters great problems. How often did I hear that this sickness is a punishment sent by Allah, and doing whatsoever against it is in opposition with Allahís will. Prevention included, as it promotes sin.
There are private tentatives. If you are courageous and not easily disturbable (but really, only if...) please read:
http://www.worldsexguide.com/g(...)/Indonesia/index.htm
The DEPSOS does a lot, but their credits have been reduced. There are several (good!) Indonesian Anti-AIDS articles, sites and / or campaigns on the net.
http://www1.rad.net.id/aids/
http://www.unaids.org/EN/geogr(...)v+aids+indonesia.asp
http://www.utopia-asia.com/aidsind.htm
http://www.insideindonesia.org/edit51/aids.htm
and many, many more. There you may also see that the problem is not new.
Many student groups are fighting for Aids prevention. But what improvement can you expect from such campaigns, when participants lack even of most primitive sex education? Most parents are unable to discuss such topics with their own children. People caring about such problems are easily classified as lewd. Even courageous articles (in Kompas etc.) and thesisís written by well known specialists (Dr Boyke, Dr Pandu Riono etc.) encounter opposition, up to serious menaces!
Salam, Juffy

The remedy fot the spread of AIDS is simple, just don't have sex, hahahaha.

Too much has to be done to make the people aware off what is going on the world. If whole populations are still analphabetic what is your main concern? If their still is unemployment and famine what is your priority?

Sure, Sepp! How could you think otherwise?
It makes this country one of the most "sterile" in the world!
You find the same comment on the first reference of my previous comment. Salam Juffy

Let me assure you, that - alas - there are many, many more than just 48. It's part of a more or less official denial policy. Because of this it is impossible to give reliable figures. It is not clear what (who) is being counted. The ones that are already dead? The ones of which they are not sure (which happens to be the case very frequently, as they deny the fact that the disease occurs in Indonesia)? The ones that are diagnosed as having (just) pneumonia, whereas . . .

As long as the government feels it as being humiliating that the disease occurs in Indonesia, you couldn't possibly have honest figures.

Salam manis

my advice would be:

Quit having sex with a monkey! and use protection such as Condom. And for God Sake: don't change partner!

Effort and Courage are not enough without purpose and direction.

I think everything because of the 'open minded' people.. casing a self satisfaction (incl the sex part) and reject 'narrow minded religion idea'. Guess who got the AIDS?? and spread to other's.. such your own spouse after you 'have a good time' ... that's sickening me..

Control your 'horses' (nobody wanna hear that!), be loyal to your spouse (and nobody wanna hear that too).... condom is not the answer.. but act like a human (not a primitive one) being.. there's no decency in norms anymore.. not anymore I corrected but less decency.. and some people who try to be decent, they gonna call them loser? narrow minded?..
