Is there any direct flight from Singapore or Malaysia (or Brunei) to Aceh? Or is travelling via Medan the only realistic option? (I want to avoid Jakarta)
Is there any international flight at all to Aceh ?

Probably Saoudi Arabian Airlines or Bin Laden Airways are interested to offer a direct flight in the future Emoticon: Wink

Hi Yerun,

Unfortunately, Aceh (or Banda Aceh, if that's what you mean) is not an international airport; it also has no runways build for bigger airplanes like 747's. If you want to fly to Banda Aceh, you should go to Medan first and on to Banda.

IF you hop on a Garuda plane from Jakarta, there's only a 30-45 minute stopover in Medan before heading to Banda Aceh.

Hi Yerun,
I answered this question recently on LP thorn tree for someone.
No international flights into Banda Aceh. I was there recently and got a flight from Banda Aceh to Medan for about 340,000 rupiah. Sometimes the flights are as cheap as 238, 000 depending on the day you book etc.
If you get the chance, do a bus trip from Medan to Kutacane and then bus it up right through to Banda Aceh. Just did that, spent 8 days in Ketembe, passed through Blangkejeren, stayed one night in Takengon at Gayoland Hotel and then bussed it through to Banda Aceh the next day.
Fantastic trip, saw so much of the coutryside- beautiful scenery in Aceh. People really friendly and from a lone female traveller point of view very very safe.
Pamela. sadly back home in Sydney Aust after 5.5 months travelling Indonesia alone.
