In the life many people tend to relate civilisation with race and colour of their race.

But is this a fact ....................... ???

It is known that certain ideas, for instance came to Europe from other continents.

  • Windmills were already developed by the Chinese, they did not use it, on a large scale, because they thought, the use of slaves more convient and cheaper ........
  • The very idea of city development were already applied in Africa at the city of Timbuktu, early Europeans were astonished about the efficient development of that city, in the way it was planned .....
  • Catamarans, as a type of boat, were already applied by peoples in the Pacific region ........
  • Bread was invented in early ancient African Egypt .......
  • Citylights, as a system, was invented by the Inca civilasation in Latin-America ......
  • The use of cotton, for clothing, was invented in India ..... therefore the 'spinningwheel' is designed in the Indian national flag ...... therefore Ghandi, at colonial times, was making a strong statement by making his own clothing and boycotting English textiles ...... that is why 'piyama' is an Indian word, it means 'long trouser' .......
  • Chinese already develped in ancient times ships with separatible compartments and were therefore not easy to sink when they were demaged .....
  • 'Al Gebra' and 'Al Chemi' as 'Al Cohol' are Arabian words ...........
  • The use of tea and coffee, with some spices, came to the western world through trade with 'those Arabians' .......
  • In Roman times slaves were not related to colour, there seems at a certain time even an coloured African Roman emperor existed ....... Romans thaught Nubian African slaves of more value than Germanic/Teutonic slaves; because they are able to read and write ....... Germanic/Teutonic slaves were good soldiers to fight at the front ..... they were considered 'barbarians' ......
  • 'General' and 'Admiral' were words/ranks from Turkish origine, that was 'inplanted' in European military systems, when the Turks were successful against the Venetians, in the Venetian War ......
  • 'Mata Gelap' is recognized in Dutch law-system and is of INDOnesian origine, it described a situation of a person, wherehe/she changes in total 'contemporary rage of blind madness' and is not reasonable to 'reason' .........

These are some examples of how civilisation is a collection of ideas from other continents and civilasations, than Europe, that contributed to the very idea of civilisation as we know today in modern society.

    Hi Anis,
It's absolutely right ,considering these historical statements as a fact,
but as we all know ,Europe was an open space without any civilisation,
which allowed other cultures settling theirs.Anyway a very interesting subject,
which is so important to keep that in mind ,every day.
It makes life colourful and worthy . All the best.Jannicka
