I just came back from Yogya. Bandung-Yogya by car (touristic route, including long lunch and two coffeestops) was 10 hours. Add 2 hours for Yogya-Solo. Add 4 hours (maybe less) for Jakarta-Bandung. We went to Bandung by Puncak but you can also go partly by highway toll road (via Krawang/Purwakarta), I guess this will be faster (app. 2 1/2 hours) . So minimum 14 or 15 hours.
In Yogya I saw an add for Adam air (?) offering flights for 290.000 rupiah! (maybe single fare)

Thank you all for your inputs, I guess the driving is so long.

My second question:
Does Train operate between Bandung-Solo. How many hours is normally the voyage, and can I reserve a full cabin in the first class and how much it would cost.

There are trains on the main Jakarta-Yogya-Surabaya route that stop in Solo. The Bima-express takes around 8 1/2 hours. From Bandung you can take several trains see http://members.tripod.com/~keretapi/sched4.html
Now it is sometimes cheaper to go by airplane. Pertaining my last posting. Adam Air is offering flights Jakarta-Yogyakarta for 159.000 rupiah, see http://www.indonetwork.co.id/p(...)mskycoairlines/50463

Getting cheap tickets is easy, wherever you are, find a travel agency, they can find the best tickets for you. I have recently flown from Yogya to Jogja, and it costed me Rp 220,000 one way.. a mere 22 euro's.

Dear Jeroen ,
You are wonderful and kind person. Do you have any email address to travel agencies so that I can contact them from where I am?
