Shalom..

Im doing a project for the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and I would like to know your opinion about the new tourism commercial videoclips. These videoclips will be broadcoasted worldwide to attract more tourists. To watch the videoclips, go to:

http://www.budpar.go.id/page.php?ic=651

Thanx!!!

Just one advice...try not to show girls with Jilbab, as that is associated with terrorism nowadays worldwide.. Try to show the beautiful nature and a nice looking (western taste, not indonesian taste) Indonesian girl swimming in some paradise-like lagoon and Im sure you will attract a lot of tourists to Indonesia (just watch the Malaysia Truly Asia Clips to know what I mean)

Oh yeah and one more thing: don't show bule or Indo girls in your clips about INDONESIA, just show 100% Indonesian people, that's what we want

Im sure u know rule number one in marketing: Beautyful girls sell! Or am I wrong and is it just a coincident that SPG-girls are very beautiful according to Indonesian standards?

Gracias. Sama sama

Always the same boring crap (I am sorry) Indonesia still have antique ideas about tourism. The clips are often abt. the same as the ones before, Borobudur, Wayang, Prambahan, Bali, Batik.......

The new short clips are done well, technically excellent. Color, camera angle and scenery look very good. kiwimave in the malaysian clips there are also western people, so what..

heyy..

Its one of the criteria of the Ministry of Tourism to show the major religions that Indonesia has in one videoclip..and I think to show western people in the videoclip has a positive effect..actually some of the 'white' people that you see on the videoclips are indonesians..so it also represents the minority of eurasians in Indonesia...

Eyal yth.,

It would be revolutionary if the INDOnesian gouvernment would state that ISRAelians are also welcome to visit INDOnesia ....... would it ???
After Egypt INDOnesia would set an example !!!
It would show 'Panca Sila' in practise, it would not be theory ........

Hmm I dont really agree with u Anis, not because of what their country does with in Palestina, but because they are a bunch of noisy arrogant travellers who think they know everything better with their big mouth (just like dutch people). Dutch and Jewish traveller groups I never want to meet outside my country. Emoticon: Wink Individuals no problem...but those people travelling in groups...terrible

Shalom..

Just wanted to respond on your comment kiwimave..jewish travellers might be noisy and arrogant but they spend a lot of money when they are on holiday and that is what it is all about...money!!!

Anis,
This topic has been discussed for so long here, actually the Indo government do wants to lifted the banned entry for Israeli citizens but they are afraid of huge demonstrations and angry of the indo population that might be happen. There were secret diplomatic talks between Indonesia and Israel..it was former Pres. Wahid who made the first step. If he is still the Pres. of Indonesia, I believe that nowadays Israeli citizens are allowed to visit Indonesia. I really hope the Indo government and people of Indonesia will lifted the banned for Israeli citizens soon for making us possible to visit this country. Take an example of Thailand.

The clips can be improved. Some of the 'acting' does not look natural. Also, correct me if I am wrong, there seems to be far too much foreigners in the clips. When I go visit a country, I go for the local culture, not the tourists. You should limit the shots of foreigners to less than 10% of the clip, if any. Stick to the locals.
Good luck next time.

Hi Eyal,

Technically spoken nice clips I guess. Didn't see all of them so I won't give individual comments. At least please loose the kid-voice in the "Being together" clip. Very annoying.

General
You didn't give much information about the communication goals. This makes it difficult to judge the effectiveness of the campaign.

Thematic tv spots like these aim to influence whatever perception the viewer might have about Indonesia. When watching the clips I miss the follow-up. How do you plan to fulfill the need for more information that you trigger with the tv spots? Do you have a website which can lead people to information resources? Is the address communicated in the spots? Indonesia is very diverse and attract's tourists with different interest profiles, you should therefor identify several subtypes of tourists each with itīs own information needs.

Pay-off and tune
The pay-off "Indonesia the ultimate in diversity" lacks inspiration. Too easy, not inspiring. It somewhat resembles the pay-off of the Malaysian campaign, but cannot withstand comparison. I can imagine that this pay-off is literally what you want the world to know about Indonesia, you however donīt want to make the text of the pay-off the same as the message of the pay-off. Think of something, be creative!

The same goes for the graphics of the pay-off. Too easy, lacking inspiration (diversity if you want Emoticon: Smile ). The colourscheme of the logo in combination with the layout is graphically very weak. Think about how it will look in print, web and tv outings. My guess is that this logo will come out even worse on paper than it does now already on screen. Keep lines simple and colours fresh, try to think of a whole that better impersonates the colourfulness and diversity of Indonesia.

The melody of the tune is too forced, not catchy. Change it with something that has a natural swing to it, something people will unconsciously whistle. Get both the logo and the tune right and the whole will be a lot stronger leaving a better and/or longer lasting impression on the receiver.

Ok, hope there's something there for you. In return, could I ask you to explain how you got a terrific job like that (I assume you're a foreigner)?

Erik

Sehr 'geehter herr Sascha Emoticon: Wink ' yth.,

What you have witnessed is on an 'unofficial basis' it would help a lot if the INDOnesian gouvernment would state officialy that Israelians are as welcome as Palestinians as Arabs; thus they could even use INDOnesia as a place to meet and exchange thoughts and ideas with eachother ...... (ordinary people).
It is not good to cultivate prejudices to one another ....... it makes issue(s) more complicated, would it ???
Is SBY as courageous as Wahid ......???

Quite interesting video yes...

Yesterday I was on a conference in Pattaya Thailand and the closing dinner was on behalf of the Indonesian government

Het commercial was presented to all captains of industry in tourism. Important guest was Indonesia's minister of tourism and culture Jero Wacik.

I had a blast at the dinner table... I can assure you...
