It seems that more roads in INDOnesias province Papua are constructed or under construction who is able to tell more ???
I know of a road from 'Pass Valley' to Nabire, it looks like there is also a road from Jayapura to Merauke .....

I think it's not the only road that is constructed in Indonesia. With an ever growing number of inhabitants, most places get more crowded by the day. For now, building roads is an option, but soon there will be a big need of other means of transport because the roads that are built, will be full with no space left new roads to build, especially in the densely populated Jawa.

The only serious road that the Indonesian government has 'tried' to establish in the last few years was the Wamena-Jayapura road.
Getting out of the Baliem into the Van Rees mountain further north east to Genyem and heading east towards Jayapura. The idea was nice and they started well just roughly 90 km North from Kurulu Jayawijaya the road colapsed because of landslides and heavy rainfall. Tropicalclimate has ruined it. Nowaday the road goes all the way to a dead end.

By the way Anis; there is no road from Jayapura to Merauke...there never has been a road

Goyang yth.,

So the road from Jayapura-Pass Valley-Nabire is ready; what about the part to Nabire ???
What about roads in the western part in the Monokwari vicinity ???

The road from Manokwari to Sorong is in use, as the many orang2 pendatang are settled along the prawi road.

Nabire-Wamena hasn't got a road, cuma jln2 tikus

This is really bad news! :( Roads a a disaster for the environment. First The destruction of Leuserpark in Sumatra and then Papua.. once destroyed it can never turned around. :( :( :(
