Hi Everyone,

These days in Bukit Lawang there are over 160 guides all vying for business and sometimes it is so overwhelming as who to pick out of them all.
And sadly some of them are being granted official guide licences with very little experience behind them.
Trekking in the jungle is not just a walk in the park - it can be quite strenuous and one needs to have a level headed guide with experience who can cope with any problems one might encounter during the trek.
A lovely gentle guide with a good knowledge of Bukit Lawang and surrounding area, and someone you can count on to look after you in the jungle is Sabarata Bangun who lives in the village with his family.
I have not been on a trek with him personally, but he comes very highly commended by a number of western travellers and has some special areas he likes to take travellers.
