· 1 · User account

· 1.1 · Making an account
You can register a user for free, is you want to create another one, that's free too, and even if you want to register 10, it's still free. But there are certain things you have to take into account.
  • Your email adress can only be used for registering one single user.
  • Usernames should not look too much like eachother.
  • Reconfirm your active account in 30 days, because unconfirmed accounts will be deleted, permanently.
· 1.2 · I can't login (anymore)
The login procedure has little to do with your computer, everything is handled by the server and a small cookie is stored on your system so the website can check if you are logged in or not. If logging in worked before, it should still work because I don't change this overnight without making a note in the forum as well.

For storing the small cookie (a piece of information to connect your login session with the server), you must have cookies enabled on your computer. It is known that company networks tend to close off certain options for safety reasons, please check this if you can't login properly.

If you login en get a message that your username or IP is not allowed, that means you are banned. In case of the IP-adress it can't be you if you are lucky. Generally you know what you did and if there was nothing wrong with that, please contact me.

· 1.3 · I have lost my password
If you have post your password, you can obtain a new one via our passmailer. An email will be sent to confirm it's really you that is requesting a new password. If you confirm that, a new password will be generated and send to your email.

· 1.4 · What to do when I'm banned?
In fact nothing than waiting until your ban is finished. When you login, you get a one-time-message when the ban will end. After that you are free to go where you want again, but take into mind that all previous bans are recorded for historical purposes. Bans are not discussed on the forum. Email a moderator directly if you feel the need for it.

Posting on this forum with another username during the period you are banned is not smart as well, since it's not allowed. If detected it will result in a longer ban for both user accounts.

· 1.5 · What username can I pick?
In fact you are almost free to pick a username you like. Be sure your username is UTF-8 encoded, so no Chinese, Japanese or other characters allowed. Many people don't have them installed, so they can't see them.

· 1.6 · Tracking topics
You can set 'tracked topics' by clicking the link 'track' in the topic menu bar. This will remember the actual topic, and create a list for you in your personal profile, or by clicking 'my tracked topics'. You can put topics in this list which you want to keep track of, even if you are not active in it, so you can track it for any changes so you can get back to it in the future.

If you don't want to track a topic anymore, simply click on the 'X' link on the tracked topics page. The topic will be removed from your active topics again. In this way, you can clean your list. There is no other upper limit to the number of tracked topics than the number of topics on the forum. I won't remove them from your list, even if they are closed.

· 1.7 · Post info
When submitting a text to the forum, your IP adress and the time is recorded as well. This information will only be used to do some 'flow control'. People who are banned are obviously not welcome and can be traced by forum postings and logins.

In the posts, the email addresses are 'encoded' with an image to prevent spam. They are transformed into a link to the user profile, which features the email - coded. The user email is only displayed if users allowed this.

· 1.8 · Activity info
When using the forum, we will track your activity for as long as you are logged in. This information (time only) can be viewed by all visitors and other users of the forum, for the length of one hour after your last activity. If you don't want this information to be available for others, please change your 'display your activity' preferences in your profile to 'no'.

· 1.9 · Info by email
If there are important changes to the forum, or in case of other important events on indahnesia.com or in Indonesia, we can inform you about this by sending email to your email address which you used to register on indahnesia.com. We won't send you email every week, but it's just an occasional email. If you don't want to receive any emails (anymore), please change your 'receive forum info by mail' to 'no'.

· 1.10 · Display your email-address
Your email address can be displayed for other users. To prevent your address from being spammed, the email is displayed as an image. Users can send you email by their regular mail program only. There is no email function on this website. If you don't want your email address being displayed here, please change the 'display email' preference to 'no' .

· 1.11 · Your registration
When completing your registration, you agree that your email adres will be used to send your confirmation information. You will get regular forum updates if you don't sign out for that in your user profile (switch of 'Receive forum info by mail' in your profile). Your personal dat will not be sold or used by third parties. Your registration at indahnesia.com can't be cancelled.

· 2 · Rules on the forum
Before things turn into a mess around on this forum, there are some rules that you will be asked to obey. It's usefull for anyone, because in this way we can have friendly and normal discussions with eachother. While posting on this forum, mention the following:

· 2.1 · Language
The languages which is used on this forum are English and Dutch (in the separated sub-forums), this language is understood by most of the visitors. Languages like Bahasa Indonesia will not be accepted on this forum.

· 2.2 · Behaviour
Behave yourself. It's not appreciated to make fun of people which are serious, and the other way around. Fun is okay, but there are limitations on it as well. No discrimination, breaking of Dutch laws (thats the country where the server of Indahnesia.com is in) and the normal internet regulations apply.

· 2.3 · Images
You can post images on any forum you want, but keep in mind not to post a flood of images, because many people will not be able to download the topic because they don't have a fast internet connection. It's also not allowed to post images that have nothing to do with the subject. Please keep in mind that the images have to be on the internet, because this forum doesn't support uploading them.

What images we don't want on the forum? Images that show (explicit) sexual content or genitals. For other images it's the same as with your text, keep it polite.

· 2.4 · Cross-posting
To clear the forum from double information, it's not allowed to ask your question in more than one forum. There is one exception for this, that is if you post it in Dutch and English forum separately.

· 2.5 · Why are some usernames blue?
While normal users are black, some users have a blue colored name. They are the moderators of this forum. They can edit your posts as well, can lock, open, change topics and posts if necesary.

· 2.6 · Personal ads
You can put your website on display here. Do it politely. Open one topic with a normal title. This forum is not a dating service, so don't post that here. There are many other websites into that.

· 2.7 · Smilies
Smilies are used to support your messages, simply do not flood the forum with them.

· 2.8 · Forums
Forums are made to make distinction between the many topics that will be opened. Before posting a message, considder where you want to place it. Firstly go to that forum for opening a topic there. When you first want to look around whether there maybe already is a topic like you want to open, please use the search function and post your message there.

· 2.9 · Copying news items/web content
If you want to make a point with background information, make links to the websites you have seen the information. This forum is not meant to drag and drop entire stories, news items and other texts. Outside of the fact that it's possibly copyrighted material, it's also filling the forums database, making it slower and less accurate to search in over time.

· 3 · How to use ...

· 3.1 · Symbols in front of titles explained
Each topic is branded with a symbol, which implicates a certain activity there, here you find what they mean. Topics and/or forums marked with a red mapping sign means that they have new posts since your last login. Looking for new topics is easy this way.
This is a normal, open topic or forum
This is a normal but closed topic or forum
This is a sticky, open topic, always on top of the forum list

· 3.2 · Smilies
Smilies are used to make a short and clear expression instead of using words. You can place smilies by using the special codes coming with them, as listed below, or when posting or replying a message, you can easily click on a smiley to insert it in the message field.

Flooding topics with smilies only is disturbing and therefore not allowed. All smilies are copyright of fok.nl.

The forum code is used in your normal posts, in quoting others and in your personal signature.

    · 3.4 · Inserting images
Adding images into a topic can be done in two ways. Simply add the [img] - code above and insert a properly formatted URL to the location where the image can be found. Be sure that the image is already on the internet, not on your local computer. This forum doesn't upload your images to the forum.

    · 3.5 · Rating a topic
On this forum it is possible to give a rating to a topic. You should rate topics according to your feeling about the information in this topic in relation to what you expected in the first place. Spam topics do not have to be rated '1', as reporting a 'topic report' helps removing them faster. You can do this by clicking on the yellow/gray stars directly below the topic title. This will give you a choice to select from one to five stars. Ratings are anonymous amongst users, but you can only give one rating per topic that can not be withdrawn or changed.

    · 4 · Tips for users

    · 4.1 · Active topics list
The active topics list only contains topics that aren't locked. Locked topics are not active anymore, so therefore it's not relevant to display them as well. If you have 'lost' a topic, please go to the right subforum to retrieve your topic, or use the search engine (upper right of your screen) to find locked topics as well. Opening a new topic for asking where the old topic has gone is of no use, they will be locked as well.

    · 4.2 · Newest topics list
The newest topics list only contains topics that aren't locked. The page will list the most recently opened topics ordered by topic number. If you have 'lost' a topic, please go to the right subforum to retrieve your topic, or use the search engine (upper right of your screen) to find locked topics as well. Opening a new topic for asking where the old topic has gone is of no use, they will be locked as well.

    · 4.3 · Your posting history
This can be found whenever clicking on your name. A list upto 100 recent topics in which you have posted at least one message will appear. The normal setting for displaying your topics is 25, you can change this in your profile.

    · 4.4 · Quoting someones words
If you want to quote a message because a topic is getting blurry otherwhise, you can use the 'QUOTE' or 'FQ' button in every posting. When you click it, you get the complete quote in your typing area. If you want to reply on more than one person in one post, simply hit the 'FQ' button of the other post as well. It will be added into your textfield.

    · 4.5 · Editting your message
You can edit a message you posted, but remember you can only do this for 24 hours after you first placed it. When a moderator has changed your message, you are not able to do it yourself anymore, it will be blocked forever.

    · 4.6 · Adding personal icons/avatars
You can add your personal avatars - the icons under your username on the forum - in your avatar manager (via your profile page). You can upload up to teb personal avatars from which you can activate one to be displayed on the forum. If you want to delete an avatar, simply click the link in the manager. If you delete the active avatar, no avatar will be displayed in the forum untill you select a new one.

If you can't make your own avatar and you want to use someone else's, please verify if the other person can agree with such an action. Avatars can sometimes contain personal images. Avatars that are crossing the line of moral, or law, will be deleted without prior notice.

    · 5 · Topic reports
Topic reports are general reports to direct the moderators directly to where the problem is. All topic reports are displayed in the moderators screen. When they are logged in, they will see them directly, so they can react to it faster than email or replies posted in a topic.

    · 5.1 · Guidelines
Topic reports are not for personal messages. Messages like that and offending or useless topic reports will be ignored. All topic reports are stored in a database, if needed you will receive information on your email-address stated in your profile, only if displayed.

    · 5.2 · Abuse
Abuse of these topic reports will be dealt with accordingly. Only logged in users can place them, so your details will always be traceable. Most of the times we don't use them. We don't make statistics of those who use them the most.
